Spark-Proof Urethane Heavy-Duty Double Wheel Chock

Aldon's spark-proof urethane double wheel chocks are built for serious railroad applications such as blocking locomotives, freight cars, and tank cars with ease. Made from non-sparking urethane, these chocks resist corrosive materials and most chemicals while compressing to half their thickness and springing back to original shape. Molded transverse ribbing clears water and dirt from the rail surface for stronger holding power. At 10 lbs., they're heavy-duty but practical — a car can be pulled right over the chock without derailing, no prying required.

Urethane is truly the Miracle Material — combining great resistance to loads with the ability to compress to half of its thickness and then spring back to its original shape. Urethane will not degrade from corrosive materials and most chemicals.

SPARK-PROOF Urethane Wheel Chocks are tough enough to block a tank car, but resilient enough that the car can be pulled over the chock by a locomotive without derailing. No more trying to yank free a steel chock that is stuck under a wheel. When it’s time to move, just pull the car over the chock and retrieve the chock later.

Cautions:

1. For use on flat track only. Do not use chocks on grades.
2. Set brake before installing chocks. Rail car or locomotive must be stopped and brakes applied before chocks can be placed.
3. Do not use chock if rail car or locomotive is lifted up at one end for inspection or repair.
4. Chock both ends of the rail car or locomotive.
5. Use on rails 90 to 155 lbs./yd.
6. Do not use on oily or greasy rail as chock will slide.
7. When rail car is ready to be moved, you may pull car over chocks. They will return to their original shape.
8. Replace chocks if urethane is torn or cracked.

The SPARK-PROOF chock was successfully tested under extreme conditions at three different locations in 2016: For Resistance to Pull in April at the Association of American Railroad’s testing facility at Pueblo, Colorado (top video) and in May at a shortline railroad (middle video). The bottom video records the use of the chocks at a customer facility in June demonstrating Resistance to Extreme Vibration.
